Earlier this month I took part in Vintazia's Vintage Friday night fair which was held at Athens Great Barn in Ruislip. It was an amazing (if freezing cold) venue and there was so much amazing vintage stuff my head was practically spinning!
It was also a great chance to try out my new china jewellery, antique ghanaian trade beads and handmade bunting banner!
Plus I had picked up the most amazing haul of mismatched china plates and cups so had a whole new range of cake/jewellery stands too. Pictures of all are below.

Since Ive been gone
I have just realised that I can blog from my phone ( I know I know I'm super late on figuring it out) but I believe it will revolutionise my blogging future! I very rarely log onto my pc so now I can blog on the go....
So much has happened since my last post and there's been a massive pre-Christmas rush of activity at Rose & Rina. I've made more candles and a new range of china jewellery. As well as selling on etsy and offline too. December has flown buy in a haze of bubble wrap and dremel dust!
I have managed to fit in a weekend in Manchester though. I hadn't been back there for years after university. It was sufficiently rainy and cold to bring back the old memories, but got me right into the festive spirit!

The season is almost upon us...
This is the time of year when independent sellers the world over go into hyperdrive. The creative juices start flowing and crafters start sticking stitching and sewing. Why? Because Christmas will be here in a flash and what better gifts are there than ones lovingly made with time and attention?
So despite the fact that there is still Halloween and Bonfire night to come before the season of tinsel and mistletoe, perhaps designers and makers will like me, be working their way down their Christmas gift list adn ticking names off, one hand made gift at a time!
As for me, I have my eye on sooome upcoming Christmas fairs that I think will be amazing - the Craft Guerilla Christmas Fair, Vintazia's Friday Night Christmas Vintage Fair , and the Pop Up Vintage Fair Christmas Extravaganza in Hampsteadv - roll on the season of goodwill!

Neeksie
One of the great designer-makers that I have come across recently is the handmade underwear brand Neeksie
I discovered Neeksie while selling at the Craft Guerilla Summer Fair and love their cute girly knickers made from vintage fabrics. My favourite item would have to be the 'cupcake knickers' - perfect as a gift but something I would most likely keep for myself!

Back from the Break
It's been a while since my last post as I went off on holiday to Brittany in the North-West of France for a couple of weeks, and then started a new (and pretty stresssful) job as soon as I came back.
I've also added some new items to my Etsy Shop including some bags and cushions made with the fabrics we got from Ghana earlier this Summer, I used one of the bags as my beach bag during my holiday and it was perfect!
I've included a few pictures from my time away - as you can see, I'm all about the beach and the food! Unfortunately, I didn't get any pictures of this AMAZING vintage market that sold the most fabulous crockery and tea sets - perfect for my cake stands - in hundreds. I couldn't bring any back to London because of my luggage allowance (I basically had already bought too much food to bring back), but I think I'll make a trip back just for that place alone!

Vintage at Southbank
Today we'll be visiting the Vintage at Southbank Festival 2011. A celebration of Vintage design, music and fashion from the 20's to the 80's is right up our street and promises to be an excellent event.
This year Rose & Rina decided not to get a stall - who want's to be tied down in one place with so many goodies to check out?! But after we've got a feel for the event this time around, maybe we'll be there selling next year....
We'll be debuting our new bags and cake stands so come along and check them out!

We Make London: Summer Boutique Update:
I've just stumbled across this blog post (click on the above) from 'We Make London' and am gutted to see that we missed their Summer Boutique! Judging by the pictures, the shop was filled to the brim with lovely hand made items.

Arrietty
As an unashamed lover of Studio Ghibli movies, I couldn't quite contain my excitement at the upcoming release of 'Arrietty'. The newest Studio Ghibli film is an adaptation of Mary Norton's novel The Borrowers, and if like me, you grew up watching BBC1 on a Sunday evening, you will remember the brilliant drama adaptation that introduced us to Norton's world of tiny Borrowers and giant 'human beans'!
This animated version is co produced by (the wonderful) Canal +, directed by first timer Hiromasa Yonebayashi, and adapted from the novel by the legend himself Hayao Miyazaki . Released in the UK on July 29th. I simply cannot wait!
Superfumi
East London Craft Guerrillas have given a sneaky-peek into some of the shops that will be at the craft fair this Saturday July 30th. One of the stores I'm most looking forward to visting is Superfumi Their range of handmade stationary and accesories are just the right side of cute but cool and will make excellent gifts. Although, I've been checking out the Mysterious Owl necklace below just for myself!
Pop Up Vintage Fair in Hampstead
Here are some pictures of our stall at the Pop Up Vintage Fair in St Stephen's Church, Hampstead.
The venue was beautiful - a derelict church building complete with stained glass windows and vaulted ceilings, the perfect back drop to the wealth of beautiful vintage clothes, shoes and (of course) teacup candles and cake stands!
Music was provided by the fabulous Belle and the Pocket Belles who sang some old school tunes al la, the Andrews Sisters and the Puppini's.
| My friend Holly who came along to help |
It was a great day with the teacup candles and tiered willow cake stands going down a storm. We'll definitely try to be at the Christmas Pop Up Vintage Fair!

Craft Guerrilla Summer Fair
It's a busy month of July for Rose & Rina...
We'll be selling our wares at the Craft Guerilla Summer Craft Fair in Walthamstow on the 30th July, which we are super excited about!
Again we'll be there with the candles and cake stands, as well as some hand made bags and cushions fresh in from our home country Ghana! Come along if you're based in East London and have a 'thing' for traditional African Fabrics or Alice In Wonderland style tea parties - we'll have it all!
Ps. There's lots of cool stuff going on that's organised by Craft Guerilla London from fairs to 'make do and mend' parties. Check out their website for more info...

Roll Up to the Pop Up Vintage Fair....
We are pleased to announce that we will be selling at our first Vintage Fair this weekend - Sunday 24th July!
Come along to St Stephen's in Hampstead for a day of delectable vintage delights - Vintage Fashion, Music and our hand made teacup candles and cake stands!
We can't wait! (All we need now is for the rain to stay away)...
Who are Rose & Rina?
Rose & Rina on Etsy / Rose & Rina on Folksy
The company is largely run by me, Lorraine, who learned to put my fidgety fingers to good use at an early age by making, painting, sculpting and sewing - mostly thanks to my Nana Rose.
I live in London, with my family, friends, and Sasha Fierce the cat.
Currently, we're making teacup candles and unique cake stands, made from vintage English china lovingly sourced from vintage shops, car boots and the back of dusty old cupboards. We also sew an eclectic range of cushions/pillows and bags influenced by our West African heritage from shoe bags to clutch purses and weekend shoppers. Our range is ever growing and ever changing, so check out 'Rose & Rina' (RoseandRina) on Etsy or Folksy, as new items are always being added!
We are also happy to create custom orders. You can email us at roseandrina@hotmail.co.uk or tweet us @roseandrina
